The Algunder irrigation channel trail

A leisurely circular hike in the west of the Merano

The path always leads us along the irrigation channel through beautiful vineyards and small villages.
There are always beautiful views of the Adige Valley and opportunities to stop for refreshments.

From Merano bus station, take bus line 213 to Töll station.

From the car park east of Töll below Plars (480 m), follow the "Algunder Waalweg" signs, which cannot be missed, on the level footpath eastwards and, after crossing the Plars road, continue along the irrigation channel until you reach the Grubbach stream near Algund; here, briefly up and down and then continue on the Waalweg on level ground again until its end at Gratsch, where the footpath joins the road leading to St. Peter (a little lower down, the Tappeinerweg begins); from Töll approx. 1:30 hrs. From there back on the the irrigation channel path in the same walking time to the starting point.
