From the car park at the church, walk approx. 700 m along the Probst-Wieser-Weg. After the sports field, a huge "Keschtnigl" (chestnut hedgehog) draws the hiker's attention to the start of the trail. Shortly after the Weinreichhof, you reach the start of the adventure trail. The individual stations indicate the course of the hiking trail. For many years now, the forestry department has been concerned with the protection and preservation of the sweet chestnut. In order to emphasise the importance of these plants and to bring both locals and tourists closer to the chestnut, the Chestnut Experience Trail was created in cooperation between the Forestry Inspectorate of Merano and the municipality of Lana. On a length of about two kilometres, stations and information boards convey everything worth knowing about the chestnut tree. The individual panels tell about the wood of the tree, the diseases that affect the chestnut, the diversity of species, the conditions for good growth and much more. Some of the stations are even interactive.
